Fashion Show 

 Preparing and working towards the third year, internal fashion show at Middlesex Uni has been one of the highlights of this first year. Even though it has involved early mornings and late nights. When I am in the third year; I now understand the amount time and energy which goes into one collection. 

I was a helper for a third year student named Jessica Brown who specialises in knit as well as croche. She designed twelve garments for three looks.  This consisted of: Silver, foil trousers which rustled when the model took one step, paired with a hight neck tunic, with a layer of blue ombre croche and metallic crin,  weaved through individual squares. Attached to this was a darker blue layer of croch,e with small light blue plastic squares.  Theses squares are perfect in shape due to the use of the laser cutter. Attaching the plastic squares and weaving the crin through the croche is where I came in handy.

The jackets feature wadding tubes with purple and pink knit covering them creating some kind of astronaut structure. This was Worn with metallic leather shorts which were attached to blue croche outline squares. Even the white high top trainers where transformed, with spray paint, and a punch hole card used as a stencil. Small coloured little dots featured on different sections of three pairs of trainers. Also Thin crin was used to separate these dots. Her inspirations for her designs have come from the 1982 film Tron. The bright multi coloured garments reflect elements of this film.

 In the middle of the week Jessica sent me on a trip around London to pick up items, which were needed to complete her garments. First I visited a leather place near angel station which supplied quality leather and fur. At this store I brought the smallest hide in a metallic colour, this was for Jessica shorts. Shepeards bush was my next stop, where I purchased bonding and grey mesh. My next stop was to Klein's, a haberdashery store near tottenham court road. They stock a wide range of ribbons, trimmings and fastenings. I was there to get elastic for the foil trousers and magnets for the jackets. My final destination was Topman were Jessica wanted rings to accessorise her garment with. 

The day of the fashion show came around so quickly. Fittings began at the beginning of the day: which meant each model had to try on garments they would be showcasing later that evening.  This was useful to see if any quick adjustments needed to made. A real positive, from this experience was I had the opportunity to dress one model. This allowed me to see garments up close and see the finer detail. I would not have been able to do this, if i was just watching the show.  From delicate to structured from silk to leather, all of the collections were so different from one another.

Part Two

Waffle House

My favourite meal of the day is breakfast. Despite waking up early, my family and I took a trip to the Waffle House in St albans. Where sweet, savoury, and breakfast waffles and fillings are served. The cosy cottage style, building is warm with an open fire in the winter. Whereas in the summer tables are placed next to a small lake. Next on my list is Potty Pancake.
